David Moyes has addressed why Tyler Dibling has not played many minutes for Everton this season

David Moyes has insisted that Tyler Dibling will get more minutes between now and the end of the season after a slow start to his Everton career.

The 20-year-old joined the Toffees for around £35m in the summer and has made 17 appearances this season for Everton totalling just north of 500 minutes.

He has started just four games in the Premier League, however, but Moyes insists the player will get more minutes as the campaign progresses.

“We think we have got a really talented player on our hands,” he said ahead of Monday evening’s clash with Manchester United.

He continued: “He's beginning to learn a lot more about us, he will get more game time between now and the end of the season.”

Dibling is still waiting his first goal contribution for the Toffees, having also started games in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. His next chance to impress could be on Monday night as Everton host Manchester United in their next Premier League game.

Everton beat United back in late November as they earned a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford despite playing much of the game with 10 men. Idrissa Gana Gueye was sent off in the 13th minute for striking his own teammate Michel Keane.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal of the game with a stunning strike just before the half-hour mark. The Red Devils are a much different prospect now, however, with interim manager Michael Carrick winning four and drawing once in his opening five games in charge.

Carrick said ahead of the game: "There is a lot that goes into a game. David’s [Moyes] teams are hard to play against, he is such a good manager and knows what it takes to have success in this league. It is a new challenge for us.

“It is going to take a lot, going away, new stadium, but [this fixture] historically has always been tough, one of the toughest I have played away from home and trying to be the best we can. We have got a good base and foundation and spirit. We will have to draw on all of that Monday night."
