Tammy Abraham reflected on a 1-1 draw between Aston Villa and Leeds United.
The striker saw his side go behind at Villa Park for the third time in their last four league fixtures at their ground after a free kick from Anton Stach. There were worries about another 1-0 loss at the stadium to follow defeats against **Everton**and 10-man **Brentford**in the new year, but Abraham answered the prayers of the supporters as he came off the bench to replace Emiliano Buendia.
Unai Emery, who has tended to use only one recognised striker in his time in the Midlands, rolled the dice and took a risk to use Abraham upfront with **Ollie Watkins**for the final quarter of an hour.
The Basque was rewarded for this decision in the 88th minute as he flicked the ball into the net after Ezri Konsa claimed a knockdown from a corner. It was the second time in seven days that Abraham had scored in front of the home fans after the opener in a 3-1 loss to Newcastle United in the **FA Cup**fourth round, and the Villans sit six points ahead of fourth placed **Chelsea**at the end of the week.
“I just had to sniff around the box. Just be alert, be ready, I didn’t know how to make connection with the ball, but the first body part that came to mind, I used. Luckily for us I got the goal.”
“These things are important in football, this season set pieces have been one of the key factors in football. We just had to be ready, we were hungry, well done to Ezri Konsa for the first contact and I was there for the second contact.
“Talk about the support – week in, week out they’re one of the best supporters in the world.”
