Manchester United are set to make some bold moves in the summer transfer window - according to a new prediction.

Manchester United face an important end to the season and if they reach their goals of a return to the Champions League under Michael Carrick, their next summer transfer window could be a huge one.

The Red Devils went in big last summer to upgrade their strike-force, and it has paid off, with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko all coming in and making a decisive impact with important goals. The midfield remains a key area of concern, though, as does the defence – United are in the top four in the league in terms of goals scored, but firmly in the bottom half when it comes to goals conceded.

We went to one of the most-loved sports games around, in the shape of Football Manager, to predict what Man United’s summer transfer window could look like – and the results were intriguing.

Manchester United make huge Brentford and Spurs signings - according to FM26

Nathan Collins - £36.5m from Brentford: United may have only made four signings next season according to Football Manager’s predictions, but they made some big purchases. One of which was Brentford captain Collins, who arrived potentially as a long-term replacement for Harry Maguire. Though arriving with a significant fee, the Irishman is one of the division’s most reliable defenders and even contributed with two goals and one assist after his Old Trafford arrival in the game.

Michael Kayode - £31m from Brentford: Completing a stunning double Bees swoop was Italian full-back Kayode. Famed for his long throw-ins and one of the stand-out young players in the Premier League this season, the 21-year-old has been tracked by United in real life and would be a smart purchase.

Mathys Tel - £45m from Tottenham Hotspur: Continuing the trend of young Premier League talents is Spurs forward Tel. The France Under-21 international has had a mixed time in north London but has long been touted for big things, something evidently identified by the Red Devils in the game. The former Bayern Munich starlet did not make a single appearance after his arrival at Old Trafford, though.

Cristian Orozco - £750k from Fortaleza: This one has already been agreed to go ahead in real life next summer. The Colombian defensive midfield talent has agreed to arrive at Old Trafford in summer 2026 after his 18th birthday but did not make an instant impact in the game, with zero appearances in his first season at the club.

Exiled duo depart United permanently amid series of loan deals

Rasmus Hojlund - £38m to Napoli: Though known as Parthenope in Football Manager, Napoli were touted to sign Hojlund permanently after a fairly successful loan spell this term. The Serie A giants have a conditional obligation to buy depending on whether they qualify for the Champions League, while it appears evident that the striker has earnt the permanent move and a fresh start.

Jadon Sancho - £16m to Chelsea: This move would certainly raise eyebrows in the summer, considering that Chelsea paid not to sign Sancho permanently last summer. The winger has been somewhat uninspiring during another loan spell at Aston Villa this term and it appears likely that he will finally depart Old Trafford permanently in the summer.

Amad Diallo – loan to Newcastle United: Not sure United fans would be hugely in favour of this one. Amad moves on loan to Newcastle in summer 2026 according to FM, scoring once in just three appearances for the Toon before returning to Old Trafford after a bizarre move.

Diego Leon – loan to Huddersfield Town: Also going out on loan was young full-back Leon, who signed for United from Cerro Porteno last summer and is touted to seek more first-team experience in the lower tiers.

Tyler Fletcher – loan to Bromley: The first Fletcher brother to earn a loan move, Tyler joined current League Two leaders Bromley and appeared ten times as he gains further first-team experience.

Jack Fletcher – loan to Swindon Town: Meanwhile, his brother Jack also earnt a temporary move to Swindon, also currently seeking promotion from League Two. Unlike his brother, he found the net to score his first professional goal during the loan spell.

Harry Amass – loan to Bristol City: Earning a third Championship loan move is 18-year-old left-back Amass, who is currently at Norwich. Continuing to rack up the first-team minutes in the second tier, he will hope to be a first-team regular in the future.

Gabriele Biancheri – loan to Barnet: Enjoying the most successful loan move in the game was Biancheri, who bagged two goals and one assist for Barnet in League Two.

Elyh Harrison – loan to Doncaster Rovers: Finally, 19-year-old goalkeeper Harrison, currently out on loan at Shrewsbury, departed again to spend the season with Doncaster.
