And it all came down to very little.
The Seagulls won 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium to help ease the pain of results such as the 2-1 defeat at nearby Fulham and a late 1-0 setback at Aston Villa.
There was also a bitterly disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Everton after they had led until the final seconds.
Asked by The Argus whether his side played much better against the Bees than in some recent games, Hurzeler’s immediate response was: “No.”
He then added: “I think when we look at the games, Everton and Fulham, I see similar performances.
“The only difference today was we scored two goals and we kept the clean sheet and we managed the key moments better.
“So I didn’t see in general a better or worse performance.
“All these kinds of performances you just mentioned were equally good and deserved definitely more.
“But in football it’s about managing the key moments well and that was a difference today.”
Albion's three away wins have all come with two-goal margins.
They have suffered four single-goal defeats away from home and drawn on four occasions.
This was the first time they had scored two goals in the first half of a Prem away game since the trip to Chelsea early last season, when they conceded four in the same timeframe.
