Tony Bellew makes brilliant point about why Everton are struggling at the Hill Dickinson Stadium

Everton have been so poor at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season.

David Moyes wants to qualify for Europe this season, but at the moment, Everton’s home form is really damaging their chances.

The Toffees haven’t actually won at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in six games, with their last victory coming at the start of December against Nottingham Forest.

With that said, Tony Bellew has explained exactly why Moyes’ side have been struggling, and he’s absolutely spot on.

Tony Bellew says opposition teams enjoy playing at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Bellew explained that the 52,000-seater is such a nice stadium to play at that the opposition are enjoying it too much.

“I agree the home form has not been that great, but ultimately, they’re getting the points to get us up the league. Home form will turn.

“It’s known now that every team going to a new stadium struggles in their first couple of seasons. I don’t think it’s down to atmosphere. I just feel it’s such a beautiful great, place to be that away teams are thinking, ‘I like it here, it’s lovely’.

“And they’re enjoying themselves a bit too much. I do think that will change eventually, but, for now, Everton are flying high.”

Everton News columnist Alan Myers also explained that the opposition have more space at Everton’s new ground.

“Teams will enjoy a bit more space, brand-new dressing room facilities and a less hostile environment,” Myers wrote.

“While some question Goodison‘s impact over a number of years – which incidentally reflected the team’s downturn in form – it cannot be questioned when it was called upon to give its best, against Palace, Bournemouth and indeed its final Merseyside Derby, the old lady definitely impacted the opposition on those occasions.”

Everton have a bit of pressure to beat Man United

Everton return to the Hill Dickinson this evening as they take on Manchester United in the Premier League.

Moyes’ men know that a win would take them level on points with seventh-placed Brentford, so there’s a lot riding on the game.

Plus, given the disappointing home form, the supporters will be expecting a positive result, having suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth the last time they played there.

Alan Shearer has predicted the Toffees to draw with Man United, which would be a decent result on paper given the resurgence of Michael Carrick’s side.
