Fulham aimed a pointed four-word message at Sunderland supporters on social media after the Premier League clash

Fulham aimed a pointed four-word message at Sunderland supporters on social media after their 3-1 Premier League victory at the Stadium of Light.

Jiménez broke the deadlock early in the second half, peeling away from his marker to head home Alex Iwobi’s corner. Seven minutes later, referee Craig Pawson was sent to the pitchside monitor to review an incident in the box and awarded Fulham a penalty after adjudging Brian Brobbey to have pulled Calvin Bassey’s shirt. Jiménez converted confidently, sending Robin Roefs the wrong way.

Sunderland responded in the 76th minute when Dan Ballard drove into the area and was brought down by Ryan Sessegnon. Enzo Le Fée blasted the resulting penalty into the top corner to give the hosts hope. However, Fulham wrapped up the victory late on to complete a league double over Sunderland for the first time since 2002-03. Harry Wilson led a counter-attack before sliding in Iwobi, who lifted a composed finish over Roefs to secure the points.

The win marked Fulham’s first away league success of the calendar year and lifted them above Sunderland into 10th place in the table. Shortly after full-time, the London club posted “Stadium of Light: silenced” alongside images from the game. Within two hours, the post had attracted around 1,600 likes, more than 90 reposts and tens of thousands of views, quickly circulating among both sets of supporters. The message followed a frustrating afternoon for the Black Cats, as Raúl Jiménez struck twice to help Fulham end their three-match losing run in the Premier League.

Sunderland’s injury list mounts after Fulham clash

Régis Le Bris admitted Sunderland could be facing a mounting injury list after what he described as a damaging afternoon at the Stadium of Light.

Dennis Cirkin had already been ruled out of the clash with Fulham due to a minor problem, while Reinildo remains sidelined for around a month with a knee injury. Matters worsened during the first half as both Nordi Mukiele and Jocelin Ta Bi were forced off, with Mukiele initially attempting to shake off the issue before eventually conceding defeat.

The full extent of the injuries is not yet clear, but Le Bris revealed he is also monitoring concerns over Brian Brobbey and Romaine Mundle. Brobbey appeared to struggle shortly before being substituted, while Mundle required attention from the physio at full-time.

“It’s a bit early to say, so we had Nordi, Jocelin, Brian, maybe Romaine as well, so it was a tough day,” Le Bris said. “Dennis also missed the game with an injury so at the minute it's a tough period, but it is what it is, we have to accept it and move forward.”
