If Nottingham Forest are relegated this season, Vitor Pereira might look back on this game as a golden opportunity that evaporated in stoppage time against Liverpool.
Alexis Mac Allister scored in the 97th minute to give Liverpool a smash-and-grab victory, with Forest playing them off the park for the vast majority of the 97-minute match.
Who was your Nottingham Forest Man of the Match vs Liverpool?
Igor Jesus, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ibrahim Sangare all missed chances to score for Forest, and ultimately, some wasteful moments in front of goal led to the points going back to Liverpool.
Pereira has managed to get two positive performances out of his players, however, and he won’t be happy to have matched a record that Nuno Espirito Santo previously held on his own before yesterday.

Vitor Pereira matches Nuno Espirito Santo record
After yesterday’s defeat to Liverpool, Pereira has become the first manager to lose his first Premier League match for a club in stoppage time, since Espirito Santo did in his first Forest match.
On that occasion, a Dominic Solanke hat-trick was enough for Bournemouth to secure all three points after Rob Jones had incorrectly sent Willy Boly off for a second yellow card in the first half.
This one will sting Forest a little bit more, however, given that the Reds find themselves in a perilous situation and have now opened the door for West Ham to climb out of the drop zone.
MORE FOREST STORIES
Pereira has overseen two very positive performances so far and that does at least count for something in the grand scheme of things as the Reds look to get going and pull clear of the relegation zone.
Forest have to start taking chances
The Reds can take a lot of positives from the defeat to Liverpool, but just like the Wolves game, it is the same situation in that Forest simply couldn’t convert chances.
Pereira has made a good start at Forest to change the way the team plays, but now, at this stage of the season, it really is all about points for the team.
With Brighton and Manchester City to play next away from home, it’s a pretty dire situation that Forest find themselves in with just 11 games of the season remaining.
Pereira knows that points are needed as a matter of urgency, and with the Brighton game looking massive, it will be fascinating to see how he approaches the Fenerbahce game in midweek.
