Salah replacement: Liverpool lining up move for "unbelievable" in-form £83m attacker

**Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, as they look to find ideal Mohamed Salah replacements this summer.**

The form of Salah has been a major issue this season, with both he and Cody Gakpo struggling to have an impact in far too many games.

On Sunday, the Egyptian saw himself replaced in the second away to Nottingham Forest, with Liverpool going on to win the match without him, and Rio Ngumoha doing far more during his short time on the pitch.

Salah may well leave Liverpool this summer, and elite successors need to be looked at, and it looks as though long-time target Gordon remains an option.

According to a [report from Spain](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/liverpool-encuentra-sustituto-salah-fichaje-95m-20260221.html), the £83m-rated winger is seen as an “absolute priority” by the Reds, and could “fill the immense gap” that Salah will leave.

**Can Anthony Gordon solve Liverpool’s wide issues?**

-----------------------------------------------------

Gordon is a player who is in form right now, having scored four goals in one half in Newcastle’s 6-1 win away to Qarabag in the Champions League last week.

The 24-year-old is an explosive who is pushing hard to start for England at the 2026 World Cup, with Magpies teammate [Bruno Guimaraes](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bruno-guimaraes-anthony-gordon-newcastle-28876747) once hailing him:

_“No one at the club deserves to be in the England squad more than him. He has been unbelievable, always scoring and giving some assists. He is a lovely guy as well, I am very happy for him and hope he can get some minutes for England. For me to play against him will be massive for both of us and the club as well.”_

Gordon is more of a left winger by trade, so it could be that he is seen more as an upgrade on Gakpo than Salah, but either way, he represents a strong option for Liverpool.

He is coming into his best years, and while more consistency is required, both in terms of performances and end product, there is plenty to like about him.

A winger on either flank is essential, so if Liverpool could get Gordon on the left and an elite addition on the right – Bayern Munich ace Michael Olise, for example – it would be great work in the transfer market.
