Everton’s home record is poor at their new stadium, but supporters are keen to build up a fierce atmosphere for the visit of Michael Carrick’s side.

Everton fans plan ‘cauldron’ atmosphere for Man United clash
Since their move, Everton’s atmosphere has “fizzled” at the new stadium, but fan group The 1878s have hatched a plan to try and drum up a fierce mood for United’s visit.
The 1878s made an announcement that there will be the club’s “biggest single stand flag display” in the new stadium so far, with over 400 flags laid out for fans.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, spokesperson Katie Carter said: “It’s one of the steepest stands in Europe, it can be intimidating if we make it that way, so let’s decorate it with flags and let’s fill it with noise and get it going. Monday night is the perfect opportunity for that.

“Whether you know the person next to you or you don’t, sing along with them, like get right behind them – make sure that everyone is stood-up, all singing and getting that atmosphere going in that ground.
“We’ve got it all there, ready, waiting for us. The stand itself is set up ready. We just need to make it feel like a cauldron of noise to help the players on the pitch.”
Man United have improved atmosphere this season
Like Everton, United have also embraced more pre-match displays and specifically flag displays on the Stretford End this season.

Last season, United displayed tifo banners at Old Trafford for the first time during the club’s run to the Europa League final.
