Manchester City handed huge slice of luck ahead of Leeds United clash at Elland Road – Leeds…

Manchester City

Leeds United will face Manchester City in the Premier League next, as they continue their fight for survival. The Whites have had a gruelling schedule over the last few weeks.

Playing relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, facing Chelsea and Aston Villa away from home is difficult fixture list. Yet Leeds United have emerged from this with five points from a possible nine. A series of impressive performances saw them beat Sean Dyche’s men, and picking up a draw at Stamford Bridge after a comeback. Arguably their best performance came against Aston Villa this past weekend.

Leeds suffocated the home side, and let them have the ball deep in their own half. Villa were unable to create any serious chances, and resorted to crossing the ball into the box. Daniel Farke’s side only got a point after a fortunate touch off Tammy Abraham’s thigh for the equalizer.

Manchester City benefit from decision ahead of Leeds United clash

Up next for the Whites is a tough game against Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s men are in hot pursuit of Arsenal at the top of the table with a game in hand. City have won five games in a row in all competitions, and are unbeaten in their last eight matches. It will be a tough task for Daniel Farke and his men when Guardiola’s side visit Elland Road.

Manchester City will be very lucky to have a key player available for that upcoming match. Former Premier League Dermot Gallagher implied on Ref Watch that Bernardo Silva should have received a second yellow for a foul on Dan Burn.

“He takes a chance there, it’s a reckless challenge. He doesn’t look at the ball. The ball is not there.”

A red for the City captain and midfielder would have meant that he misses the game at Elland Road.

Whites should be confident ahead of Elland Road clash

A home game is the best chance Leeds United have of any result. And a game against Manchester City should be almost a ‘level’ ground when both sides meet. Daniel Farke’s men have gotten results against other big teams in the league this season including Chelsea and Liverpool. And the reverse fixture at the Etihad saw Pep Guardiola’s side scrape a narrow win due to a stoppage time winner.

Leeds should be buoyed by their results against Villa and Chelsea in recent games – they can get something against City at home. The Elland Road atmosphere will have a huge part to play.
