Brighton striker Evan Ferguson has a big decision to make amid his latest injury.
The Ireland international has been on loan at Roma this term and has five goals and two assists in all competitions so far from 22 appearances.
Ferguson has though had his injury issues while in the Italian capital. The 21-year-old had just returned from lower back injury sustained last month against Sassuolo and then injured his ankle in the closing stages of a Europa League group stage win against Stuttgart.
Ferguson has now missed the last five matches for Roma and reportedly returned to Brighton's medical department this week to assess the injury. A decision will then be made on whether to operate on the ankle injury, or not.
An operation could cut short Ferguson's season and also rules him out of Ireland's upcoming World Cup play-off. Surgery would also make him a major doubt for this summer's tournament, if Ireland progress.
Zamora on Ferguson
Ferguson has struggled at Brighton for the past two seasons and had a recent loan at West Ham, prior to his switch to Serie A.
He enjoyed a a flying start to his Brighton career and is highly though of by Albion’s attack coach Bobby Zamora, who said that Ferguson is the best finisher at the club.
