West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola performs surprise DJ set in London pub

West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola performed a surprise DJ set in a London pub over the weekend.

The Premier League star and France international was spotted behind the decks at The Star of Bethnal Green on Saturday night (21st February), according to social media reports.

The pub’s general manager, Archie, shared a photo on X with Areola and a signed football shirt, writing: “The Star of Bethnal Green. Home to Areola’s first-ever DJ set.”

In a separate post, he shared images of Areola in the mix, captioned: “What if I told you Areola is DJing at my venue right now?”

Check out the footage below.

Areola had previously given fans a glimpse of his DJing in a video posted on Instagram by his wife last week.

In 2025, French footballing hero Djibril Cissé performed a DJ set following the fixture between All Stars XI and Auxerre Greatest XI in France, which saw the likes of Didier Drogba, Robert Pires, Claude Makelele, William Gallas and Thierry Henry take to the pitch.

In 2023 Dublin's Bohemian FC seemingly became the first and only football team in the world to exclusively use vinyl records in their stadium. Running for three seasons, from 2023 through 2025, DJ Richie O’Connell played exclusively vinyl under a new partnership with Irish online record store The Record Hub.
