The young Seagulls visit Sunderland in the FA Youth Cup fifth round on Tuesday looking to build on success at QPR in the previous round.
Hemed, the former Seagulls striker, has joined Steve Menzies in interim charge of the side after Bjorn Hamberg left to become senior head coach of Elfsborg in the Swedish top flight.
Albion are currently fifth in the league, but just two points off third spot, and have provided the bulk of the unde-21s team which has progressed to the semi-finals of the Sussex Transport Senior Cup.
But Hemed can see development in various aspects on and off the pitch.
Posting on social media, he wrote: “It has been a season full of experience, growth challenges and constant learning.
“It’s great to see the development of the players, both individually and as a team not only professionally but also in their character and mindset.
“The hunger to work hard, improve and succeed makes the process special.
“We are in a strong position competing for four titles and now we keep pushing and working hard as we enter the final part of the season.”
Albion under-18s have lost just once in their last ten games, winning eight.
There was delight for the academy on Sunday as the 21s beat Birmingham City 3-2 in Premier League 2.
Aiden West, who has progressed through the ranks and has played a part in the Senior Cup run, scored his PL2 goal to secure the points with superb strike
Callum Mackley and Joe Belmont were also on target while first-year scholars Bailey Palmer, Zach Brennan and Jacob Parsons all got on.
