Unai Emery sets sights on Premier League starlet as Aston Villa race to beat Everton to summer…

The latest transfer news involving Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton ahead of the summer window.

Aston Villa are stepping up their interest in signing Fulham winger Harry Wilson, though several other Premier League clubs are keen and could create strong competition.

The Villans, eager to add depth and quality in attacking midfield and on the flanks, are looking at the in-form Wilson as a serious option. Unai Emery has a multitude of targets for every position and Wilson, whose Fulham contract comes to a close this summer, is one of those.

One of the Premier League’s surprise packages this season, Wilson has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 21 top-flight matches in 2025/26. It’s already the Welshman’s best tally for goals in a single Premier League campaign, while the assist total is only two away from his personal best (7).

Emery sets sights on Wilson

It has been reported for several months now that Villa are keen on Wilson, especially as the Welshman’s contract expires this June. BBC Sport claimed a few weeks ago that talks over a new Fulham deal had reached an impasse. Wilson wants reassurance that head coach Marco Silva will remain at the club before he makes his decision, and he’s yet to be given that.

The Telegraph reports that Villa are continuing to keep close tabs on Wilson’s situation. Emery is said to be a huge fan of Wilson and would like to bring the winger to Villa Park ahead of pre-season. Emery sees the possibility of signing a player of Wilson’s calibre for free too good to turn down, however there’s an awareness that other clubs are in the picture.

Everton are one of those, as The Telegraph’s report suggests David Moyes is interested in bringing Wilson to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. It awaits to be seen whether Wilson would be keen on a move to Villa or Everton, but on paper it would probably be an upgrade from Fulham either way.

Fulham have already signed Wilson replacement

As much as the Cottagers won’t want to lose one of their star players, it won’t be the end of the world if Wilson leaves. That’s because Silva’s side secured the signing of winger Oscar Bobb from Manchester City at the end of the January transfer window, luring him to Craven Cottage in a deal worth around £35 million.

Bobb has only started once for Fulham so far - in the 2-1 FA Cup win at Stoke City - but by the time the summer comes around, he should be settled in. The Norway international could make the right wing position his own if Wilson were to leave, so Fulham wouldn’t exactly be in bad hands.

Villa, who have been lacking depth in wide areas for several seasons now, will be hoping Wilson decides against staying at Fulham. Now 28, Wilson may not have many more opportunities to take a fresh step in his career. If Villa can qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, then surely a transfer to the West Midlands would be too good to turn down.
