Just in: Lisandro Martinez ruled out of Everton vs Man Utd due to injury, timeline of return…

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was ruled out of their game against Everton on Monday night due to injury, and journalist Laurie Whitwell has confirmed he should only be out for one or two weeks.

Martinez hasn't been long back in the United side, having made his first start of the season in December. The 28-year-old has missed the majority of the campaign due to injury, starting just nine Premier League games so far.

Martinez has been a regular under Michael Carrick, who hasn't looked to rotate his side too much, so it's certainly a blow for the Red Devils heading into their game against Everton.

The former Ajax defender has been partnering Harry Maguire at the back of late, with Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro as backup options on the bench.

Reporting for The Athletic, journalist Whitwell has confirmed that Martinez will miss Manchester United's game against Everton on Monday night. The Argentine defender is expected to need one to two weeks of recovery before he's fit enough to play again.

Martinez has now started United's last nine league matches, but after struggling with injuries throughout his time at Old Trafford, it was perhaps one game too many.

The Argentina international only returned from a nine-month ACL problem in November, but it only appears to be a small issue that's going to keep him on the sidelines this time.
