Tottenham are fighting to stay in the Premier League under Igor Tudor.
Tottenham Hotspur are sleepwalking into relegation, and new interim boss Igor Tudor must quickly stop the rot.
Sunday’s dismal defeat to neighbours Arsenal marked a third consecutive loss in the Premier League for the Lilywhites, and the big concern is that several of the remaining 11 fixtures do not make for good reading. Spurs were smashed from pillar to post in the North London derby, with Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres both scoring twice to seal the deal for the Gunners.
Randal Kolo Muani’s overall performance and goal were the only positives for Tottenham from the game on Sunday. Nonetheless, a losing start for Igor Tudor isn’t ideal in any circumstances, ramping up the pressure on the Croatian manager and his coaching staff in the club’s fight for survival.
Richard Keys makes his stance clear on Tottenham’s relegation prospects
Tottenham find themselves 16th in the table, four points above the drop zone. But West Ham’s sudden improvement in form under Nuno Espirito Santo is not good news for the North Londoners.
While Tudor is confident that his team will stay in the Premier League come the end of the season, famous sports presenter Richard Keys is not too positive about the Lilywhites. The 68-year-old has been persistent on Spurs retaining their top-flight status, but after the drubbing at the hands of Arsenal, he has changed his stance.
“A quick word on Spurs. How on earth has it gone so wrong?” Richard Keys wrote on his blog.
“I agree now with those that believe they could be relegated. I hadn’t really seen it as a realistic prospect until now but you’ve got to.
“They’re awful.”
Keys’ change in opinion on Tottenham will have made for uncomfortable viewing for supporters already fearing the worst about their club’s Premier League status. It is a damning indictment of where the Lilywhites find themselves. This is not a team going through a rough patch. This is a club in total disarray from top to bottom and vice versa.
If Tudor’s job was big, it certainly grew tenfold after watching his side get humiliated by bitter North London rivals at the weekend. If the players are not rolling up their sleeves and fighting, relegation from the Premier League this season looks like a nightmare turning into reality.
