Senne Lammens Explains Key to Manchester United Winning Any Game

Manchester United have endured a troublesome few years, with problems on and off the pitch. After the club appointed Michael Carrick, hope was not high, but their former midfield star has now steered the team to fourth in the Premier League, with five wins and one draw from his six games in charge. The latest win was a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium against Everton. After the tough win, Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens spoke to Sky Sports, revealing the key to his team’s good form.

Lammens Reveals Manchester United’s Key

Manchester United survived an early scare when a Lammens clearance was charged down, but ultimately went out for a goal kick.

The Red Devils responded well and looked dangerous when attacking, with Bryan Mbeumo involved. Despite having possession, the away team struggled to trouble Everton, who only had their first effort on goal in the 39th minute.

Lammens, when called upon in the first half, rarely looked in trouble. It was a sloppy first half, with 0-0 a fair reflection.

Everton started the second half on the front foot, testing Lammens early on. Michael Carrick signalled his intentions in the 57th minute, bringing on Benjamin Sesko to try and win the game. Everton continued to press and were looking much more dangerous in the second half.

United were struggling to pose any real threat to the Everton goal until Cunha picked out Mbuemo with a beautiful cross-field pass, who then played in Sesko, who smartly finished to put his team in front.

Everton continued to pile on the pressure, with Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane both firing in shots, with Keane’s effort forcing Lammens to tip it over the bar. Sesko had a chance to make it 2-0, but Jordan Pickford denied him. Everton will feel hard done by as they leave the game empty-handed.

Senne Lammens Talks Manchester United’s Key to Victory

Talking to Sky Sports after keeping a clean sheet in his team’s 1-0 win, Lammens revealed the key to them winning any game:

“It was more about the hard work and the defending togetherness. We weren’t at our best, I think we have to be better on the ball. But then you can see that if you work together defensively and if you don’t give goals away, our attacking players always give us a chance. One flash and you can score and if you keep it zero you can win away in this hard game.

“Since the manager has come in we’ve been defending really well together. Actually, all season almost. We knew if the defence kept it to zero, we have that chance. It wasn’t the prettiest one, but sometimes when you work that hard for it, sometimes it’s the best ones.”
