Everton have lost again at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the goal Manchester United scored really exposed the need for a new centre-back with a turn of pace.
The Toffees are now six games without a win at home, with Benjamin Sesko scoring the only goal.

The Slovenian striker finished off a sweeping move, providing the clinical finish that Everton couldn’t find themselves.
We know Everton will be busy this summer, and tonight’s game really hammered home the need for a speedy centre-back.

The goal that United scored was a lethal counter.
Matheus Cunha collected the ball after an Everton attack fizzled out, and picked out Bryan Mbeumo who had isolated himself with Keane.
Despite Keane having a couple of yards on him, Mbeumo surged past him, before squaring the ball to Sesko.
Sesko, not massively known for being quick, left Tarkowski for dead with a sprint to the box, and finished past Jordan Pickford with ease.

Jamie Carragher clocked Everton’s pace issue
In his analysis of the goal, Sky pundit Jamie Carragher also noted the lack of pace at the back for Everton.
He said on Sky: “He just leaves Tarkowski for dead. The pace is absolutely sensational. To run that far and to finish with that composure is outstanding.
“From an Everton point of view. We talk about taking a risk to try and win the game. Everton have two centre-backs high up.
“That’s a normal set up for most teams in the league. But Everton do have defenders who probably struggle pace-wise. When that ball is turned over, as that ball is played, you’ve got Mbeumo on the run against Keane.

“He has two problems, he’s not as quick as Mbeumo and he’s still not moved his body position so he’s facing his goal, so Mbeumo is away and Keane still has to get on the turn.”
Links to new centre-backs haven’t been all that plentiful recently.
Everton have been linked with Marcos Senesi and John Stones, but with only Jarrad Branthwaite being relatively quick, it is paramount that the next centre-back signing Everton make is someone who is quick across the ground.
