Man Utd secured a gritty victory over Everton in the Premier League on Monday night.

United recorded their first away clean sheet of the season as Benjamin Sesko secured the victory with another goal from the bench. The Slovenian was not included in the starting line up for United's first trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but managed to make it six goals from his last seven appearances with an emphatic finish.

The victory means United are now up to fourth in the Premier League table, three points ahead of both Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for Champions League qualification. It was another important win towards their target of a top-five finish, though it was far from comfortable, with some huge defensive contributions from the likes of Harry Maguire and Lammens.

Speaking at full-time, Lammens praised the defensive resilience of his side but challenged them to be better on the ball after they struggled to create chances against Everton. "It was more about the hard work and the defending togetherness," he told Sky Sports. "We weren't at our best, I think we have to be better on the ball. But you can see that if you work together defensively and if you don't give goals away, our attacking players always give us a chance. One flash and you can score and if you keep it zero you can win away in this hard game.

"Since the manager has come in we've been defending really well together. Actually, all season almost. We knew if the defence kept it to zero, we have that chance. It wasn't the prettiest one, but sometimes when you work that hard for it, sometimes it's the best ones."
