The Clarets looked dead and buried at one point as the gap to safety extended to as many as 11 points.

But a four-point haul from back-to-back away games in London, at Crystal Palace and Chelsea respectively, has cut that gap down to eight.

Burnley play a day before the team they’re trying to catch, Nottingham Forest, next week, meaning a win against Brentford on Saturday will bring Vitor Pereira’s side to within five points.

While it will still take something special from Parker’s side to pull off the great escape, they’re at least keeping themselves within the fight.
