"Very" - Nico O'Reilly highlights importance of rare particular Man City boost for Leeds United …

Rapidly rising Manchester City star Nico O’Reilly has sized up Saturday’s trip to Leeds United.

Rapidly-rising City star O’Reilly proved the star of the show in Saturday night’s Premier League clash at home to Newcastle United, the 20-year-old England ace netting a first half brace which sealed a 2-1 win for his title-chasing side.

Victory was far from straightforward for Pep Guardiola’s men against a tough Magpies outfit, O’Reilly readily admitting the night’s exertions left his players feeling tired.

City, though, now have a rare free midweek ahead of Saturday evening’s trip to Leeds, O’Reilly declaring the opportunity to rest and reset as very important for his side.

Guardiola’s men also had a free midweek ahead of last weekend’s visit of Newcastle, something O’Reilly said his players definitely benefitted from.

“Very important”

Speaking to Manchester City club media, O’Reilly was asked about the rare ‘luxury’ of having no midweek game and how important that was going to Leeds.

"Very important,” said the young City star.

“Obviously tonight (against Newcastle) all of the lads worked so hard. It was a demanding game, especially in the second half so all tired but now it's time to recover and rest up and go again next week.”

Saturday evening’s victory against the Magpies made it five wins on the bounce for City in all competitions, a feat saluted by O’Reilly as his side continue fighting on all four fronts of the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

“We always believe and I agree we are building great momentum,” said the City star.

"We were able to have a bit of a rest with no midweek game which always helps rest the legs a bit so I think we're doing well."
