Walker, a former Blade, attended Sunday’s game at Bramall Lane, which was won 2-1 by Chris Wilder’s side.
It proved to be a double celebration for Walker’s old side, as their win also confirmed Sheffield Wednesday’s relegation to League One.
But it wasn’t all positive for the Blades, who were reduced to 10 men just after half-time when Phillips was shown a straight red.
The midfielder, a former Manchester City teammate of Walker’s, was given his marching orders for a reckless and high challenge on Svante Ingelsson.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen him not smile because he’s been smiling for the last two weeks,” Wilder said, as quoted by The Athletic.

“So that’s disappointing for him getting into a rhythm because you see the quality that he possesses.
“Kyle Walker’s down in the changing room with him. Rhian Brewster is down in the changing room. That’s the type of club that we are. They love him to bits, we love him to bits. I’m disappointed.”
A regular starter for England not so long ago, it’s fair to say Phillips’ career hasn’t gone to play in recent years.
The 30-year-old has made just four appearances this season, with three of those coming for the Blades since signing on loan during the January transfer window.
“He’s here to enjoy his football,” Wilder added.
“My first meeting with him, I thanked him for coming and playing a part, which he will do, and helping us win games of football.
“For the first time, we’ve seen him a little bit down, but he’ll get over it. We’ll get through this little period. We’ll put a little bit of work into him from a physical point of view, and he’ll be okay.”
