‘He’s made a big difference’: Inside Michael Carrick’s Benjamin Sesko plan to fully ‘develop’ Man Utd striker

Michael Carrick has laid out his full blueprint for how Manchester United can further enhance Benjamin Sesko after his impact against Everton on Monday evening.

The 44-year-old Manchester United legend has not started Benjamin Sesko in his first six Premier League matches in charge as interim Red Devils head coach.

Benjamin Sesko’s turnaround has been pretty stunning! Should he start the next game?

But Sesko has been a key substitute option for Michael Carrick and the 22-year-old United striker has netted against Fulham, West Ham and Everton in recent weeks.

The Red Devils summer signing climbed off the bench in the second half at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and forward Sesko broke the deadlock for United against Everton.

Benjamin Sesko replaced Amad Diallo on Monday evening and the former RB Leipzig ace was set up by Bryan Mbeumo in a stunning Manchester United counterattack.

Bryan Mbeumo squared the ball to an onrushing Sesko and the Slovenia international curled a superb strike into the bottom corner of the Everton net.

Who was your Man Utd MAN OF THE MATCH vs Everton?

Let us know why!

Sesko’s effort past a helpless Jordan Pickford was the difference-maker between Man Utd and Everton in their Premier League clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Speaking after United’s 1-0 win over Everton, Michael Carrick has tipped Sesko to become a “big player” for the Red Devils once he has fully developed at the club.

“Yeah, listen, Ben’s in a good place at the moment and we’ve had some really good talks about it and patience is one thing for him and building him and help him grow as a player and develop him as a player here,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“And he’s patient and he understands that, you know, he’s going to be a big player for us for a long period of time, I’m sure, of that. So, we’ve got to manage that.”

Michael Carrick on the pivotal role of Man Utd’s attacking options amid his praise for Benjamin Sesko

Sesko has netted three times in Carrick’s six matches as interim head coach so far, despite the in-form Man Utd striker not starting once under the Red Devils legend.

However, Carrick insisted that his United first-team squad needs “balance” and the Red Devils’ attacking options have been showing exactly that since his appointment.

“We’ve got some really good forward players and he’s made a big difference for us when he’s been on the pitch, but that’s obviously decisions as we move forward,” he added.

“But the balance has been good with the forward players, so we need to continue that.”

Sesko has found the back of the net eight times and registered one assist in 24 matches across all competitions for Man Utd in his debut season at Old Trafford.
