Danny Simpson can't get enough of Matheus Cunha’s antics vs James Garner during Man Utd win

Matheus Cunha showcased the other side of his game on Monday night in Manchester United’s win against Everton, which Danny Simpson loved.

The Brazilian was key in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Everton as his quick thinking and passing range played a big part in the winning goal.

Matheus Cunha was one of United’s standout players. Despite a flat attacking performance for most of the game, he proved his importance in moments.

Cunha won’t look back on this performance as one of his best, but his defensive contributions and the manner in which he dominated James Garner are something appreciated massively.

Who was your Man Utd MAN OF THE MATCH vs Everton?

Let us know why!

Danny Simpson loves Matheus Cunha’s antics against Everton

Cunha spent much of the game competing with Garner with multiple tackles between the two, along with plenty of back-and-forth, which culminated in the 90th minute.

As Garner carried the ball down the right flank near the United box, Cunha dealt with him expertly to win a corner. The result saw Cunha let out anger, frustration, passion, and relief all at once as he celebrated enthusiastically by shouting at Garner.

Cunha’s passion has been hailed by teammates, and this was the latest example as they swarmed him with equally delighted celebration. Fans loved this from Cunha, and so did former player Danny Simpson.

“I love it”, Simpson wrote on his X in response to a clip of Cunha’s celebration to winning that corner. The moment also saw Cunha and Garner exchange more words, with clear tension between them before United’s number 10 was subbed off.

Cunha excels in winding up his opponents, which is a quality every team wants to have from a player. Other examples of this include Cunha falling dramatically after a silly tackle from Gana Gueye, only to laugh and smile at the Everton midfielder.

Cunha is a necessity on the pitch when holding out a slim lead, a player that fans of other clubs will hate.

Matheus Cunha’s work rate criticism was a massive lie that Manchester United didn’t fall for

Prior to signing Cunha, there was so much talk about his poor work rate, and many assumed that meant that he would be another Marcus Rashford, not fighting for the team.

But this couldn’t be further from reality, as Cunha has been one of United’s hardest-working players all season, even when his quality on the ball isn’t quite up to scratch.

Cunha has taken over the left-wing role from Patrick Dorgu, which comes with the caveat that you must help Luke Shaw defensively, and excelled, getting back, working hard, and contributing at both ends.

The Brazilian’s effort levels will make him a cult hero at United in no time, and this performance is one many fans will remember for his antics with Garner alone.

Hopefully, more of this is to come, combined with a return to goalscoring.
