'Over the top': Man United player left frustrated by what David Moyes had Everton doing

Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has claimed Everton went over the top with their corner routines on Monday evening.

Everton were unable to secure three points at the Hill Dickinson Stadium against the Red Devils, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat.

Goals remain a huge issue for David Moyes, with his side having now scored the fourth-fewest (29) in the Premier League this season.

Set pieces offer Everton a big opportunity to score, given their height advantage over many sides.

Senne Lammens criticises Everton’s corner routines

Gary Neville thought Everton’s pitch looked overwatered during the game and the frustrations from a Man United perspective did not end there.

After the game, speaking to Sky Sports, Lammens admitted he thought Everton went too far with their corner tactics to overload his area.

ā€œEverton are a physical team, their defenders are really big, We knew the corners and set pieces would be difficult, It’s a strength of mine [dealing with crosses], but today it was a bit over the top! I had to be behind the line in order to come out. It was too much, but it can be difficult for the referee to see it,ā€ he said.

ā€œSometimes you can’t be thinking too much about players around you, because then you aren’t thinking about the ball. My defenders can create space for me, so I have the opportunity to come and punch the ball away. But it is getting more and more difficult.ā€

Everton had a staggering 10 corners to United’s one on Monday evening, but they were unable to make their dominance count.

Jarrad Branthwaite has urged Everton’s forwards to take their chances, but he also holds a responsibility from set pieces.

The Toffees enjoyed a height advantage over the Red Devils from set pieces which was not capitalised on.

Everton need to find a new source of goals

Having attempted 12 shots and managing a mere xG of just 0.63, Moyes will be left scratching his head when it comes to Everton’s attacking threat.

Everton wanted to sign another striker over the winter, but they were only willing to sign the right player if the opportunity arose.

A long end to the season is ahead for the Blues if they are unable to solve their struggles out in front of goal.

Teams like Arsenal have demonstrated this season just how useful set pieces can be for adding to your goal tally.

Despite their aerial threat, Everton just cannot seem to take advantage from their own set pieces.
