Benjamin Sesko's winning goal vs Everton was forged by Ineos, Man United's biggest transfer criticism is finally over

Manchester United eventually found a way to break the deadlock against Everton through a Benjamin Sesko counter-attack goal.

Michael Carrick’s side had to fight hard for all three points in a 1-0 win against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Benjamin Sesko continued his scoring streak by coming off the bench and netting the winner. The Slovenian showcased his frightening top speed to latch onto Bryan Mbeumo’s pass into the box.

Benjamin Sesko’s turnaround has been pretty stunning! Should he start the next game?

United didn’t create an abundance of chances on Merseyside, but Sesko scored from a moment of brilliance that started with Matheus Cunha’s long-range pass and Mbeumo’s run into space.

Carrick praised the attacking trio for their link-up play, and the recruitment team back at Old Trafford will be feeling smug about their summer decisions.

Man United transfer trio link up to score vs Everton

United spent £232m in the last summer transfer window, with the majority spent overhauling the attacking options in the squad.

Sesko, Cunha and Mbeumo all joined United after turning down other proposals from Champions League clubs, and all three have had a huge impact in their debut season.

United’s transfer strategy has shifted under Ineos, with the Red Devils scouring the market for wonderkids but also adding ready-made talents into the first-team squad.

Mbeumo and Cunha were Premier League-proven and they both hit the ground running in Manchester. Sesko started slow under Ruben Amorim but is now flying with five goals in his last six league matches.

Ineos are turning around Man United’s transfer record

In the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, United have unfortunately built a reputation as reckless spenders and terrible recruiters.

The number of big-money flops who have come and go at Old Trafford is a huge concern, but under Ineos there are signs of change.

Ineos have been ruthless when it comes to cutting out big wages in the squad, and the recruitment in the first team and the academy has been drastically improved.

While top-class players may have been hesitant about joining United in previous years, the success of Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko – and Senne Lammens at the other end of the pitch – should comfort them.
