Nottingham Forest are said to have reignited their interest in Juventus defender Federico Gatti ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was first linked with a move to the City Ground little more than 12 months ago. Reports from Italy suggested the Reds presented him with a “lucrative contract offer” in the 2025 winter transfer window, only for the centre-back to turn down their approach.
Apparently not deterred by the rejection, Forest reportedly had their eye on Gatti last summer amid a squad reshuffle. And it seems he is back on their radar as plans begin to be put in place for another big summer Trentside.
According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Get Football News Italy), the Reds are beginning to circle Gatti once again. However, they are not the only ones keen on the Italy international.

Forest’s relegation rivals West Ham United are also said to be “potential suitors” for the Juve man. Meanwhile, it has been claimed French outfit Lyon have spoken to the player’s representatives.
Juventus are reportedly open to a summer sale, with a price tag in the region of €20 million (£17.5m) being mooted. A switch to the UK has been described as a “concrete opportunity” for the defender.
Whichever division the Reds find themselves in next season, it is set to be a huge off-season at the City Ground. Forest have 11 games remaining to make sure they end up preparing for another campaign in the Premier League, rather than a return to the Championship.
Either way, there will be plenty of ins and outs when the transfer window reopens. If they stay up, Forest will want to ensure they have a squad in place to avoid another survival scrap in 2026/27; if they fail to beat the drop, an overhaul of the dressing room will be on the cards.
Defence is likely to be an area in need of strengthening whatever happens in the coming weeks. Star centre-back Murillo will be a wanted man in the summer, while it could be the Reds allow Morato to depart after interest in him was reportedly rebuffed before the winter window closed.

At 6ft 3in, Gatti is decent in the air at both ends of the pitch and has proved capable of chipping in with set-piece goals - something Forest could certainly do with improving. Additionally, the Italian is capable of playing in either a back three or a back four, which would prove useful for Reds head coach Vitor Pereira.

In his first two games at the helm, having had little time to work with the squad, Pereira has stuck with the four-man defence deployed by predecessor Sean Dyche. However, the Portuguese has utilised a three-man back line with wing-backs in the past and it remains to be seen whether he tweaks his formation down the line.
Heading into the run-in, Forest are just two points above the relegation zone. They have 18th-placed West Ham breathing down their neck, with Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo fired up to get one over his former employers after being axed by the Reds three games into the campaign.
