Eight changes as Anthony Gordon & Sandro Tonali out - Newcastle United predicted starting XI v…

The Magpies have all but guaranteed their progression into the last 16 having won the first-leg 6-1. With a five-goal advantage, Howe is expected to make changes to his starting line-up.

“I think we'll look at the squad and try and pick a strong team,” Howe said. “We want to win the game, so that's the first target, is to win. And in some senses, we want to keep a good rhythm with the players.

“I think it's a really delicate balance we've got between rotating the squad and making sure everyone's fresh to winning the game and also making sure players don't lose rhythm and we don't lose the good feeling that we've had.

“So I'll try and pick the right team, taking all the information into consideration that we have.”

Newcastle could have Sven Botman and Yoane Wissa available again after missing the last three matches through injury, while players such as Lewis Hall and Kieran Trippier could be rested considering the lack of defensive options already.

Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali were among the players who trained indoors on Monday afternoon. While Howe confirmed there is “no real issue” with either player, it does suggest the pair will be given a rest this evening.
