The German’s influence in the middle of the park this season cannot be underestimated. What is even more impressive was that he was known as a defensive midfielder coming into the league, but Farke has unleashed him in a more advanced box-to-box role. He contributes both offensively and defensively and is a useful weapon as a set piece taker. Anton Stach is one of the big signings this summer that has paid off massively.
He has been so good this season, that conversations about a callup to the German national team ahead of the World Cup have resurfaced. This proved the recruitment team were spot on in their findings when Daniel Farke requested midfielders who have the physicality and intensity to play in the Premier League.
