Glenn Helder has admitted he is desperate for Arsenal to win the Premier League this season.
Soccer News cover comments from the former Gunner today. He has admitted that he is desperate for Arsenal not to bottle their push for the Premier League title.
Helder, for those who don’t know, became the final signing of George Graham’s time at Arsenal in 1995.
He made only 49 appearances before Marc Overmars eventually replaced him, but he has remained a Gunner ever since.
How Arsenal title challenge is testing nerves

As a result, he has kept a close eye on their title challenge this season. Mikel Arteta’s side are currently top of the table, five points ahead of Manchester City in second. They restored their five point lead with a 4-1 win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
That victory was very much an air clearer for the Gunners after a disappointing run of form had put their title hopes in jeopardy.
Draws against Brentford and Wolves had allowed Manchester City to close the gap and pile on the pressure at the Emirates.
Some sections of the Arsenal fan base have certainly grown concerned over a repeat of their past ‘bottling’ of the Premier League.
Why previous seasons encourage lingering doubt
Arsenal have previously lost control of the title race in the final stages of the 2023/24 season, having led for most of the campaign.
A run of 12 points from their final nine matches, though, ultimately saw them finish behind Manchester City.
Helder is certainly one of those who has grown concerned. He’s praying that there’s no repeat of the past misses.
“It is and always will be my club,” he said.
“Unfortunately, they haven’t managed to make a successful final push in recent years. I would wholeheartedly wish it for Arteta. He’s really put in a good performance after Arsène Wenger.
“The league title would complete that. It will be exciting, but it can happen even in the dying seconds of a season.
“Just look at City in 2012 with Sergio Agüero. Hopefully Arsenal won’t make it that exciting, because then some hearts would give out in the stands.”
