Ferdinand compares Man United trio to legendary quartet after 'brutal counter-attack' goal vs…

Manchester United dug deep to claim a 1-0 victory at Everton on Monday, strengthening their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

The decisive strike was orchestrated by Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha.

Following a defensive clearance, Cunha sent a brilliant long pass to Mbeumo, who put the ball on a plate for Sesko to slot into the bottom corner.

United legend Rio Ferdinand praised the trio for the build-up to the goal, likening their interplay to some of the club’s past forwards.

He told Rio Ferdinand Presents: “ It is the third time in a row that Sesko has come off the bench to score, with the 71st-minute winner here, delivered on a brutal counter-attack.

“If you put the names on their shirts — Rooney, Nani, Ji-Sung Park, and Cristiano Ronaldo — you would have thought it was them. It felt like a bit of a throwback.

“At times on the counter, it even looked like Martial, Lukaku, and Rashford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer — absolutely devastating.

“Maguire clears at the edge of the box, and it reaches Cunha, who delivers a wonderful pass, set up by Sesko, with Mbeumo making a willing run. Then, Sesko puts on the burners against Tarkowski, gets up there, stays calm, and slots it.”

There is now growing expectation that manager Michael Carrick could start them together against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The three players, who arrived last summer for a combined £201 million, were signed to bolster United’s attack.

It is time they were given a run of games together as we head into the decisive part of the season.

If they continue to combine in such brilliant fashion, United fans might once again witness forward play reminiscent of some of the club’s most iconic attacking line-ups.
