West Ham will have a big decision to make regarding the future of the player this summer

According to Italian news outlet, Calciomercato IT expect Niclas Fullkrug to return to West Ham this summer from AC Milan. The Serie A giants are not expected to sign him on a permanent basis as they look to land younger players. They have an option to buy him permanently when this season ends.

The Hammers are currently in a relegation battle as they look to preserve their Premier League status. They are inside the drop zone with Wolves and Burnley. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side drew 0-0 with AFC Bournemouth at home last time out.

West Ham transfer latest regarding Niclas Fullkrug ahead of the summer

West Ham signed Fullkrug back in 2024 to boost their attacking department. He has since made 29 appearances for the London outfit in all competitions, nine of which came during the first-half of this campaign, and he has scored three goals. The attacker was loaned out to AC Milan in the January transfer window and he has since found the net once in 11 outings for the San Siro club.

The 33-year-old, who has made 24 caps for the Germany national team so far in his career, is under contract at the London Stadium until June 2028. Therefore, he still has two years left to run down on his deal in England but he has fallen out of favour. He has spent the majority of his career in his native country with previous spells with the likes of Werder Bremen, FC Nurnberg and Hannover 96, among others.

What next for West Ham and Nuno Espirito Santo?

West Ham are back in action this weekend as they aim to claw themselves to survival. They face a tricky away trip to Liverpool. Speaking after their stalemate with Bournemouth, Nuno said: “It was a tough game, we knew that Bournemouth is a good team, I think we played a good game.

“The boys competed really well, we were organised, we didn't allow too many chances in terms of Bournemouth, the way they play. Of course, when the game opened up, it could go both ways, but that is the risk that we acknowledge and we wanted to take.

“But overall, it was a good performance, and I'm sad about the result because we almost got there. The chances that we created could have been different, but I’m proud of the way the boys worked.”
