“We love him” – Leeds United already have one transfer being lined up this summer

Leeds United have to ensure we remain in the Premier League before conducting incoming business, but Joe Gelhardt looks nigh-on certain to leave.

In order for the 49ers to maximise how much we want to spend in the summer window, sales will be important yet again.

There’s a decent chunk of value in the group of players currently out on loan from Elland Road. Some of them are performing much better than others, mind you.

Joe Gelhardt continues to cement Hull City fan favourite status away from Leeds United

An injury during the festive period scuppered Joe Gelhardt’s hopes of pushing towards the top of the Championship goalscoring charts.

However, it’s been Gelhardt’s best and most consistent season to date. He’s finally been entrusted with a role that suits his skill-set, and at Hull City, he’s got a club that clearly wants to sign him long-term.

His 11th goal of the season came at the weekend at home to QPR in a 3-1 defeat. Despite that loss, the Tigers are still in a driving seat for a playoff place, coming into this evening’s clash with Derby County sitting fifth.

Hull City chief says it’s “case closed” on pursuing Joe Gelhardt permanent transfer with Leeds United

The long-term question remains of where Gelhardt will play his football beyond this season. Joffy has been a core part of the Tigers not only staying in the league last season, but now fighting for a return to the Premier League.

Tigers sporting director Jarred Dublin has now vowed that the Championship promotion hopefuls will pursue a permanent transfer.

“Division being probably the most important thing with Joffy in particular,” Dublin told Hull Live. “Where Leeds are, should they maintain Premier League status or come down, so there’s loads of moving parts.

“On the Joffy one, it’s very clear. I’ve been very vocal, the president, the gaffer, Joffy knows how much we love him, how much we value him, how much we would love to see him continue his Hull City story. That’s case closed on that one. We’ll see what happens.”

Leeds united must sanction permanent Joe Gelhardt sale – Could wages be an issue?

It’s been obvious for some time now that Gelhardt doesn’t have a future at Elland Road. It’s a shame because there was a time where he looked an England international in the making.

That said, Hull look the side that are finally helping Gelhardt realise his potential, and allowing him the chance to kick on is vital.

Hull look intent to sign him and pay us the money required. My concern is whether his wages will become a barrier.

We all know he earns a huge amount for a Championship player, so Leeds and Hull will have to navigate that obstacle.
