REPORT: Arsenal Planning To‘Offer’£51m Defender To Barcelona Following Everton January Interest

Arsenal are reportedly planning to ‘offer’ Barcelona one of their defenders in the summer transfer window to improve their wages situation.

The Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table, five points clear of Manchester City after they beat rivals Tottenham 4-1 over the weekend in the latest edition of the North London derby.

If Arsenal do win the league this season, they will be able to attract world class players to help them kick on and win more trophies under Mikel Arteta, including success in Europe.

In order to recruit more talent, the Gunners will need to free up some of their wage budget, so reports have said they could sell Ben White in the summer.

Arsenal ‘offer’ Ben White to Barcelona

According to reports in Spain via Football 365, Arsenal are considering selling White, as he hasn’t been able to get regular game time for the Gunners because of the very strong form of Jurrien Timber since he returned from injury last year.

The report says that Arsenal are willing to offer White to Barcelona, as the La Liga giants reportedly want to strengthen at right-back, and they view White as an ideal player to help boost Hansi Flick’s side on the right-side of defence.

White was linked with a move away in January, as Everton were interested in signing the former Brighton star, but the Gunners didn’t want to sell him in the middle of the season. The Gunners bought him from Brighton in 2023 for a fee of £51m. He would likely be worth less money now based on his lack of game time.

The Gunners eye White replacement from Portugal

Further rumours of an exit for White have emerged further ever since reports came in which suggested that Arsenal wanted to sign Sporting CP right-back Ivan Fresneda.

Man City are understood to be keen on Fresneda too, but if Arsenal do sell White, they could guarantee him more game time, so could well be the frontrunners to land the Spaniard.
