Report: After Ibrahim Sangare, Manchester United now want another Nottingham Forest player

Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White could be on his way out of the City Ground this summer.

The Reds’ captain has been in fine form this season, and after four years on Trentside, he’s catching admiring glances from a host of clubs.

How much is Morgan Gibbs-White worth?

Gibbs-White cost Forest around £25 million in the summer of 2022, with Wolves receiving a series of add-ons in the four years since to take it to around £42.5 million.

Yesterday it was claimed that United want to sign Ibrahim Sangare in the summer, and today, it’s been claimed how the club feel about landing Gibbs-White.

Manchester United want Morgan Gibbs-White

According to the Daily Mail, United are now extremely keen to sign Gibbs-White and have placed him on a list of transfer targets.

United are prioritising proven Premier League players in the summer as the Red Devils look to build on their mini-revival under Michael Carrick.

The team have won five and drawn one of the games that the former midfielder has taken charge of, with Champions League football now a real possibility next season.

MORE FOREST STORIES

Gibbs-White has scored 26 goals and registered 33 assists in his 155 appearances for the club and has become a firm fan favourite.

Tottenham almost signed Gibbs-White last summer, but Evangelos Marinakis stood firm and decided to keep hold of the club’s influential captain.

United wouldn’t be a great fit for Gibbs-White

Although Carrick has deployed a 4-2-3-1 system at United, it’s hard to imagine Gibbs-White being a regular at Old Trafford.

Gibbs-White supported United as a boy and idolised Paul Scholes, with the player likely to favour a move to Manchester in the summer.

It’s quite surprising that the player didn’t leave Forest last summer and it looks for all the world like he will get a new club when this season finishes.

With Gibbs-White likely to miss out on the England squad for the World Cup, it will seem logical in his mind that a move to a bigger club can help him make future squads for major tournaments.

Nobody at Forest would begrudge Gibbs-White an exit, and the challenge for Forest is to ensure that they can recoup the very best fee for their star player.
