Three world records from Brighton and Hove Albion’s midfielder
Brighton's reluctant hero James Milner was officially recognised by the Guinness World Records yesterday.
The 40-year-old midfielder received three certificates during a presentation held at Albion's Lancing training ground.
Milner surpassed the all-time Premier League appearance record last Saturday as he played a starring role in Brighton's vital 2-0 win at Brighton.
It was his 654th top flight outing and in doing so he eclipsed Gareth Barry's record.
In addition to this, Guiness World Records also confirmed two further records for the former Newcastle, Leeds, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool man.
He also has the longest gap between first and last English Premier League (EPL) goals (22 years 248 days).
And, Most consecutive English Premier League seasons played (24)... quite the hat-trick for the Brighton man who is out of contract with the club at the end of the season.
Guinness World Records posted: "Congratulations to @JamesMilner on achieving the most appearances in the English @premierleague - 654 as of 21 February 2026 💪
"Milner was presented with his certificate at @OfficialBHAFC's training ground today."
