Michael Carrick Hints At Whether He'll Start Benjamin Sesko After Crucial Everton Goal

Man United manager Michael Carrick has hinted whether he’ll start Benjamin Sesko moving forward.

The Red Devils continued their unbeaten start under Michael Carrick, as they went to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and beat Everton 1-0, thanks to a goal from Benjamin Sesko, who came off the bench in the second half to score a winner.

Sesko joined in the summer for £71m, and he had somewhat of a slow start to life at Old Trafford, as he didn’t manage to regularly get into the starting XI, and regularly find his scoring form. However, off the bench, he has been excellent, as he has now scored seven goals in the Premier League.

Following the game, many have been left questioning whether Carrick will opt to start Sesko in Man United’s next game against Crystal Palace and Newcastle moving forward.

Carrick says Sesko lack of starts is ‘not a big deal’

Man United’s next game comes against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, and with a win, the Red Devils could jump up to third, with Aston Villa three points ahead of them.

Following the Everton win, Carrick was asked about Sesko, and he has said that he’s really developing in the last few weeks. He told BBC Sport: “He is growing as a player. Sometimes it’s big steps, sometimes it’s little steps. He has taken some huge ones recently. The confidence and belief he is playing with is great to see.”

Carrick was also asked about Sesko’s lack of game time, saying it’s not a big deal, which potentially indicates that he won’t change his line-up and start him against Palace.

He said: “I get why everyone is talking about it and making a big deal of it, but it is not always as extreme. I have got a really good relationship with Ben. We have had some good conversations, and he is in a good place.

“He obviously wants to play, but we have got some good forwards and I can’t speak highly enough of how he has been.”
