Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Morgan Gibbs-White and could launch a stunning double swoop for him alongside his Nottingham Forest colleague, Elliot Anderson, during the summer transfer window.

It's widely acknowledged that United are set to prioritise strengthening their midfield in the upcoming window as they look to revitalise their central ranks, with Anderson, who has impressed significantly for both club and country this season, attracting attention - though the 23-year-old is likely to have plenty of suitors.

Forest are anticipated to demand an eye-watering £100million fee to let go of their midfield star - and United are also pursuing another of their prized assets.

According to the Mail, 27-year-old Gibbs-White is on United's radar, along with several other Premier League sides who are prepared to pounce should Forest face relegation.

However, United's pursuit of either Gibbs-White or Anderson could be complicated by their revised pay structure as the club attempts to reduce their wage expenditure. This situation could benefit Manchester City, with reports suggesting United's fierce local rivals are also interested in securing both players.

Gibbs-White is believed to have a release clause included in the fresh contract he penned after a proposed £60m transfer to Tottenham fell through last summer, and could still attract interest even if Vitor Pereira successfully guides Forest to Premier League survival. The same applies to Anderson, who has become a regular fixture in the England squad under Thomas Tuchel's management.

Securing a top-four finish and Champions League qualification would deliver a substantial financial windfall for United, potentially generating over £100m if Michael Carrick can sustain their current strong run of form.

Their transfer budget could be further enhanced by moving on several high-earning players, with Casemiro - who pockets approximately £375,000 per week, already confirmed to be on his way out.

Jadon Sancho, understood to be earning £250,000 weekly, is also expected to leave permanently, whilst Marcus Rashford is anticipated to make his loan switch to Barcelona a long-term arrangement.
