AN eagerly-awaited Rotherham United comeback for Dan Gore could happen this weekend, although manager Matt Hamshaw is giving little away about the fitness of the key midfield man.
The Millers have lost all four League One matches sinces the Manchester United loanee headed to the treatment room with a shoulder injury sustained in the January 31 4-0 victory at Exeter City.
The 21-year-old has been doing non-contact work at the club's Roundwood training base and his manager is desperate to have him available again to help in the fight against relegation.
Hamshaw was coy when asked about the prospect of a return at home to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, restricting his comments after Tuesday's match at Bradford City to: “I can't say at this moment.”
The Millers were without seven first-teamers in West Yorkshire and two more players, midfield duo Kian Spence and Dru Yearwood, failed to last the contest.
Both are concerns ahead of the visit of the Pilgrims, with Hamshaw again being reluctant to give out details about the nature of their issues.
“Kian was just feeling things, I'm hopeful it's not too serious,” he said. “He just felt things tightening up. It's probably a bit of fatigue. I think Drew got a knock.
“I wanted to keep the players out there but, at the same time, we've got games coming up in a short period and can't take risks.”
Centre-half Zak Jules and midfielder Shaun McWilliams missed out against City after picking up hamstring and calf issues last weekend but Hamshaw hasn't ruled out either player for the Plymouth clash.
“I'm hopeful that they're going to be returning at some point soon. We just need to wait and see. We're trying everything to get them right for Saturday.”
After the Plymouth contest, Rotherham are at AESSEAL New York Stadium again next Tuesday to take on Mansfield Town.
