Middlesbrough's new predicted final Championship finish after Leicester City draw

Where are Coventry City and Middlesbrough predicted to finish in this season's Championship?

Middlesbrough are still firmly in the race for a long-awaited return to the Premier League despite dropping two points in Tuesday night’s home game with Championship rivals Leicester City.

Kim Hellberg’s men had high hopes they could continue applying pressure to league leaders Coventry City by moving on from Saturday’s goalless draw with Oxford United by securing all three points against a Foxes side sitting deep in relegation trouble after they were handed yet another points deduction.

However, it was the visitors that took the lead with a goal from Caleb Okoli - and although Boro got back on level-terms with a Riley McGree equaliser just before half-time, they were unable to find a winning goal during the second half. That result means Boro are sitting two points behind Coventry - but the Sky Blues advantage could be extended if they can secure a win at Sheffield United on Wednesday night. The race for the Premier League looks set to go into the final month of the season - but where are Boro predicted to finish in this season’s Championship? We take a look at the latest predicted final Championship table based on stats from the experts at Opta?

The Swede told BBC Radio Tees: "It makes it one loss in the last nine, but of course you want to win games. We weren't good enough to win today. From the last two games we created a lot of opportunities but for us now the ball is not going into the net to win it. But in those games we have two more points to our tally. We wanted more but that's done, so we have to work from it and keep improving.

"You take points you get at this stage of the season and keep working. We're in an unbelievable position and we will keep working hard to keep it. It was two good teams going at each other. They have a lot of quality and we have the same.”
