Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Papa Gueye as Casemiro's replacement. They could offer around €60 million for him in the summer.

Casemiro and Manchester United announced last month that they would part ways at the end of this season. The Brazilian midfielder will leave the club as a free agent after a four-year stint. Hence, the Red Devils are looking for a replacement for the 34-year-old.

As per Fichajes.net, the Premier League giants have identified Papa Gueye as their target and are willing to offer Villarreal €60 million. The 27-year-old midfielder came through Le Havre's academy before joining Olympique Marseille in 2020. He then moved to Villarreal in 2024 and has recorded eight goals and one assist in 64 appearances.

Gueye can play as a defensive or a central midfielder. He is good at making recoveries, but also known for his line-breaking passes and helping in build up. His contract with Villarreal will expire in 2028. Gueye has also earned 39 caps for Senegal, helping them win the Africa Cup of Nations twice.

Gueye has also garnered interest from other clubs in Europe after a strong 2025-26 campaign. He's made 28 appearances across competitions for Villarreal, as they sit third in LaLiga standings.

Manchester United have identified a list of potential Casemiro replacements: Reports

The Red Devils signed Casemiro from Real Madrid for a reported fee of €70 million in 2022. He's made 151 appearances for them, contributing 22 goals and 14 assists, helping them win the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. Hence, replacing him would be a big task for the club.

As per journalist Peter O'Rourke, Manchester United have identified multiple potential replacements, saying (h/t Football365):

“We know the central midfield position is going to be a priority for Man United this summer. Casemiro is leaving at the end of season. There’s doubts over Ugarte’s future as well. So look, they’re going to need strengthening in that midfield position. Onana is a player that they’ve had previous interest in. So I think it’s one of those where he probably still remains on the list, but he’s probably not at the top of it."

“We know all the other names that they’ve been linked with, the likes of Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson. I think they would all figure above Onana as well. And as I said, I don’t think Villa would be very keen on losing or not as well.”

Manchester United were also linked with a potential move for Carlos Baleba last summer, but he stayed at Brighton & Hove Albion.
