West Ham are fighting to preserve their Premier League status under Nuno Espirito Santo right now
West Ham are ‘interested’ in a permanent deal for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi this summer, as per Football Insider. He is currently on loan with the Hammers until the end of the season. The centre-back is due to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
West Ham eye permanent Axel Disasi swoop
West Ham’s chances of landing Disasi on a full-time basis will depend on what league they are in next term. If they are relegated to the Championship, he would be very unlikely to join them. Therefore, they need to stay up to boost their hopes of securing his services.
Disasi, 27, was given the green light to link up with the Hammers in January to get some game time under his belt. He has since made a positive impression and has slotted in nicely into their starting XI. The ex-France international has fallen out of favour at Chelsea so will be pleased to be getting regular minutes.
The ex-Paris FC, Stade de Reims and AS Monaco man was snapped up by his parent club back in 2023. He has since made 61 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, chipping in with five goals from the back. They loaned him out to Aston Villa in the last campaign.
What has been said about West Ham’s interest in Axel Disasi?
Ex-football chief executive Mick Brown has told Football Insider: “It’s one of the major benefits of the loan system, you get to see players in your own environment who you might otherwise have had doubts about signing permanently.
“He’s gone in there, it looks like he fits in well with what Nuno Espirito Santo is trying to do, and he’s been a big upgrade on their other options. Centre-back has been a problem position at West Ham for some time, and I’m told people at the club have been very impressed with his performances.
“Chelsea obviously don’t want him, they left him out of their plans, so they’ll be open to a permanent move at the end of the season. It looks like that’s something West Ham will be interested too, if they stay in the Premier League, he continues to impress, and if the price is right.”
