Everton-Liverpool behind-the-scenes rivalry to deepen amid official Hill Dickinson Stadium…

Everton are rolling with yet another Hill Dickinson Stadium event announced for England’s Women to face Ukraine in their final FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 qualifying group fixture.

The Friedkin Group are pulling out the stops when it comes to earning every last possible penny from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Concerns surrounding Everton’s results on the pitch at the new stadium remain unresolved, but the financial results cannot be denied.

It is just hours on from Everton announcing another rugby fixture to be held at the new stadium, as the Hill Dickinson is quickly becoming the north’s leading sporting venue.

Everton could surpass Anfield events total due to Hill Dickinson Stadium location

Everton News columnist Alan Myers has shared concerns over Everton’s stadium transport links, which will also cause potential issues with these events.

However, the Hill Dickinson Stadium’s location on the Liverpool docks could actually work in Everton’s favour when it comes to licensing permits from the Liverpool City Council.

Speaking to Everton News, finance expert Adam Williams has dived into the news on another event being hosted at the Hill Dickinson.

“By my count, that’s five ‘non-football events’ Everton have booked in at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. They’ve moved at pace here, which is impressive. It’s interesting to see the type of events they are staging – all sport so far,” Williams told Everton News.

“I imagine there will be music events further down the line, and that’s probably where the big bucks will be.

“There, I think there will be a commercial element to the rivalry between Everton and Liverpool.”

Everton will also host the 2035 Women’s World Cup at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which Colin Chong used as an opportunity to take a swipe at their city rivals.

“They’re both going to be bidding to host the same events. Because the Hill Dickinson Stadium was built with non-football events in mind, I’d put my money on most of the major acts going there. One of the big factors here is going to be how many events they are allowed to host under the terms of their license with Liverpool City Council,” Williams added.

“As far as I’m aware, the club haven’t communicated a specific number. At Anfield, I believe it’s six. Because the Hill Dickinson Stadium is in a much less residential area, you’d probably think that they will be allowed more, although you do have to consider transport infrastructure and so on too.”

How much Everton could make from Hill Dickinson Stadium events

The Friedkins have eradicated Everton’s financial concerns following the dark days under Farhad Moshiri.

Heading forward, the Blues are in a considerably better position to spend on improving their squad on the back of the takeover in late 2024.

However, events being held at the new stadium will also provide a welcome financial boost ahead of the summer transfer window.

“How much revenue they actually make from these events is hard to say because you would need to see how the contracts are structured – typically, however, you get a rental fee and maybe a modest cut of ticket sales too,” said Williams.

“Sometimes, merchandise and catering sales are lumped in as well, but Everton outsource catering to Aramark, so that will eat into how much revenue they actually make. I appreciate there are a lot of ifs and buts there, but I’m fairly confident in saying Everton will be looking to make upwards of £15m annually from the full gamut of non-football events.

“How much of that is profit, we’ll have to wait and see. Their accounts for 2025-26 are going to be fascinating. It’s a shame we don’t get them until 2027.”
