Andre Onana’s legacy at Manchester United seems like a distant memory for some Red Devils supporters at Old Trafford after Senne Lammens’ immediate impact.
However, the 29-year-old former Manchester United No 1 is still on the books at Old Trafford after leaving for a season-long loan at Super Lig side Trabzonspor in 2025.

Andre Onana wants the Man Utd No 1 role back amid Senne Lammens’ current standing at Old Trafford
Andre Onana could throw a spanner in the works after The Guardian reported that the 29-year-old Cameroon international wants to challenge for the No 1 role.
The former Ajax and Inter Milan shot-stopper failed to impress across his first two seasons at Old Trafford after reuniting with ex-Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag in 2023.

Signed in a deal worth £47.2m from Inter Milan in 2023, Onana’s lack of consistency, erratic performances and howlers all played a part in his downfall.
The Trabzonspor player will see his loan deal expire in the summer and Onana’s current contract with Manchester United will not come to an end until 2028.
Onana would link back up with the United first-team squad at the end of the 2025-26 season if nobody comes in for the Cameroon and Trabzonspor shot-stopper.

The writing was on the wall for Onana long before Senne Lammens made his way to Old Trafford from Belgian side Royal Antwerp on deadline day last September.
If Ruben Amorim had turned to Altay Bayindir and pretty much ostracised Onana to a role on the bench, what chance does he have against Lammens at Man Utd now?
Whether it is Michael Carrick who receives the keys to the kingdom as United’s next permanent manager or not, Onana’s time at Old Trafford is all but over.

Onana has not set the world on fire at Trabzonspor and his transfer stock value has plummeted from the heights of his Inter Milan form before United signed him.
Altay Bayindir is already playing a distant second fiddle to Lammens and Onana would be arguably behind Tom Heaton in the pecking order now as well.
Onana’s best hope for trying to salvage the next stage of his career is far, far away from Old Trafford after Lammens’ impressive debut season at the club so far.
The best ‘present’ that Onana could leave for United fans and the Ineos regime is trying to salvage some kind of transfer fee for the Red Devils to recoup this summer.
