The Champions League knockout stages are fast approaching, with the draw for the last 16 set to take place later this week.
The most prestigious European football tournament makes a return this week as the final qualified teams for the 2026 competition are confirmed.
Play-off matches are being held this week to confirm the final few teams to make the last 16 stage of the competition. Following these fixtures, the draw for the knockout stages of the tournament will take place.

When is the Champions League draw?
The draw for the last 16 stage of this year’s Champions League tournament will take place at 11am (UK time) on Friday, February 27.
The draw will be taking place live from Nyon, Switzerland. UK viewers will be able to tune into the draw live on UEFA.com, UEFA.tv, and the official Champions League app.
TNT Sports and Discovery+ will also be carrying live television coverage of the draw in the UK. Non-subscribers will still be able to tune in live with the livestream available on TNT Sport’s official YouTube channel.
Who is in the last 16 Champions League draw?
A number of English teams have booked their place in the last 16 stage of this year’s Champions League tournament.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City earned automatic qualification to the next round after placing in the top eight at the end of the group stage. Newcastle have now also secured their position in the next round after defeating Azerbaijani side Qarabag FK 9-3 on aggregate in a playoff match.
A number of remaining playoff fixtures will take place this evening (February 25), which will confirm the final teams who have made it to the last 16.

Friday’s draw will also confirm the path to the final for the remaining teams. This means that teams will find out which opponents they could come up against in the quarter-final and semi-final if they progress from the last 16 stage.
