Eight Liverpool players could miss West Ham clash

Liverpool vs West Ham team news ahead of the Premier League clash at Anfield.

Liverpool can pile on the pressure in the race for Champions League qualification when they face West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday (15.00 GMT).

The Reds’ last gasp 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest ensured that they moved level on points with Chelsea. It appears that the top five Premier League places will secure passage into next season’s Champions League and that is Liverpool’s main aim.

Chelsea, in fifth, are not in action until they face leaders Arsenal on Sunday - while fourth-placed Manchester United host Crystal Palace. It means that a win for Arne Slot’s side can leapfrog Chelsea, although they face at West Ham side scrapping for their lives. The Hammers are 18th but have started to pick up under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Ahead of the clash, here’s a look at the early team news for both sides.

Liverpool team news

Florian Wirtz - minor doubt

The attacking midfielder was due to start against Forest but pulled out with a back issue after the warm-up. There was not too much fear over Wirtz’s issue, though, and could well return to the squad.

Jeremie Frimpong - doubt

The summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen has been out for the past five games with a groin issue. Frimpong is earmarked to return to training this week so he could make the bench if he has no issues.

Alexander Isak - out

The £125 million British record signing continues to recover from a broken leg. Isak scored his first Premier League goal for Liverpool in the reverse fixture at the London Stadium.

Wataru Endo - out

The cult hero is set to be absent for a prolonged period with a foot injury.

Conor Bradley - out

The Northern Ireland international continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.

Giovanni Leoni - out

The centre-back is still on the long road back after rupturing his ACL last September.

Jayden Danns - out

The well-regarded striker is back on the grass but Liverpool will be cautious with his return. Danns is likely to play for the under-21s before he returns to the first-team fray.

Stefan Bajcetic - out

The midfielder has not made a single appearance at any level this season, having had hamstring surgery in the summer.

West Ham team news

The veteran goalkeeper remains sidelined with a back issue.

Freddie Potts - out

West Ham’s homegrown midfielder was given a red card in an FA Cup win over Burton Albion and remains suspended.
