Report: Manchester City now lead the race for Nottingham Forest star, Manchester United also…

The future of Elliot Anderson is up in the air this summer, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool all admiring the Nottingham Forest man.

Anderson has been tipped for stardom after a superb two years at the City Ground, and he’s thriving under regular game time and European football this season.

What changes would you make?

The midfielder looks set to start for England at the World Cup, with Thomas Tuchel waxing lyrical on Anderson during recent international matches that the Forest man has excelled.

Now, interest is rife in his signature ahead of the summer transfer window, and although his focus is solely on keeping Forest in the Premier League right now, his future looks to be elsewhere.

Manchester City leading the race for Elliot Anderson

According to Flash Score, the Citizens are the ones leading the race to sign the player for £100 million this summer, ahead of city rivals United.

Anderson has been a standout performer over the last two years for Forest and he’s excelled in the middle of the park.

City are keen to sign a new midfielder this summer and have identified Anderson as their top target, with United likely to look elsewhere and other interested parties unable to stretch to £100 million.

Forest will make a significant profit on a player who came to the Reds in a surprise move from Newcastle at a time when they were close to breaching PSR regulations.

The Magpies must now be kicking themselves over letting the player leave St James’ Park and his career looks set to kick on even further when he leaves Forest.

Forest need contingency plan for Anderson departure

Whichever division Forest are playing in next season, the Reds need to make sure the players that leave are suitably replaced.

Forest have to make sure this sort of season doesn’t happen next season if they do remain in the Premier League and Anderson will need replacing.

If the club are relegated, quite clearly another Anderson won’t be possible, but much like his signing in the first place, perhaps Forest need to target someone young with bags of potential.

It’s never easy to see top players walk away from Forest, but if £100 million can be pocketed from City, then that will at the very least soften the blow a little bit.
