Brighton vs Nottingham Forest in the Premier League from the Amex Stadium - Sunday 2pm
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler hopes to have midfielder Yasin Ayari back in time to face Nottingham Forest.
The Sweden international midfielder has missed the last four matches after dislocating his shoulder in the 1-1 draw at Everton.
Hurzeler, who was celebrating his 33rd birthday, said Ayari has been involved in non-contact training this week and will have his first “contact session” today (Thursday). The German head coach said if Ayari gets through the next two days unscathed, then he could be an option to face Nottingham Forest.
Solly March getting closer
The club will also continue their cautious approach with Solly March. The winger is close to return after persistent knee issues and travelled with the team for their 2-0 win at Brentford last time out.
He narrowly missed out on the matchday squad. “It’s important he gets gametime at the right moments,” at the right moments said Hurzeler. “But we can’t force it. This week he is getting closer.”
James Milner, the all-time Premier League appearance record holder, is good to go against Forest despite suffering from cramp in the closing stages at Gtech. The 40-year-old has trained “with intensity” this week and Hurzeler said “he’s totally fit and an option for the weekend.”
Adam Webster (knee) and Stefanos Tzimas (knee) are the long term absentees.
Brighton are 14th in the Premier League, while Nottingham Forest are struggling in 17th. Forest are in Europa League action tonight and Hurzeler admits he will be keeping a close eye on their game, while enjoying his birthday celebrations.
