But Matt O’Riley faces a battle to regain a spot as Fabian Hurzeler weighs up his midfield options.
Ayari has been out with a dislocated shoulder suffered in the draw with Everton.
He has trained this week and rejoined the group for the first time on Thursday.
Fabian Hurzeler and his staff will check how he comes through a full contact session.
James Milner went off very late in the win at Brentford with cramp but has been given extra recovery time this week.
Hurzeler has numerous options and Ayari could be added to them.
The head coach said at his Thursday morning press conference: “He had some sessions on the pitch without any contact, and now he's able to get in contact with his opponents, with his team-mates.
“Hopefully everything goes well and then he might be an option for the weekend.”
Milner occupied the No.6 role to great effect at Brentford.
Hurzeler said: “He needs a little bit more recovery time than maybe in former times, but he looked sharp again the last two days on the training pitch.
“He seems to be totally fit and therefore definitely again an option again for the weekend.
“No new injury concerns, and I think that's quite positive to go with this availability of players into the final part of the season into an important run.”
ORiley went on as substitute against Crystal Palace soon after his return from Marseille, where he was on loan.
But he was not in the matchday squads at Liverpool and Brentford.
Hurzeler said: “Matt O’Riley is a role model regarding his work ethic.
“Keep doing what he is doing. He's training hard. He's having good standards in training.
“He's trying to improve every training session and therefore sometimes I have to make hard decisions.
“Sometimes a coach doesn't have a lot of arguments to speak to the players and say, ‘You are out because of that, that, that’.
“He doesn't give me a lot of reasons to put him out of the squad but, in the end, I have to make decisions and he has to keep pushing and then I'm sure his chance will come.”
