A spokesperson for West Ham United’s owners has claimed the club regret missing out on Leeds United’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The 28-year-old entered the free agent market in the summer following the end of his nine-year assocation with Everton.
He had been linked with a raft of clubs from across the globe, but Leeds managed to secure his signature.
Doubts over his injury record lingered following his arrival but not for long, as the marksman’s form silenced concerns.
Since making the move to Elland Road, the England-capped Yorkshireman has scored 10 goals in 26 appearances.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin claim
West Ham were among the clubs credited with interest in Calvert-Lewin over the summer and the relegation-threatened Hammers have now seemingly been left with regret.
According to a spokesperson for the West Ham owners, since-sacked head coach Graham Potter did not want another forward.
They told Hammers News: “Yes, we regret not signing Calvert-Lewin, especially on a free transfer. But Mr Potter didn’t want a forward and would not let us sign or buy one.
“Nuno [Espirito Santo, Potter’s successor] came in and immediately identified that he wanted two and it has helped us massively.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s scintillating form
Calvert-Lewin’s form has fuelled talk of a potential recall to the England national team, for whom he last featured in 2021. He has 11 senior caps on his CV, as well as four goals he is keen on adding to.

"For that, he has way too many games and goals. But he needs to deliver one top-class season in total for Leeds United.
"He's on a good path, but if he stops right now scoring goals and now delivering performances, then we will just speak about a solid season.
"And I want to speak after the season about a historical season, about a second-to-none one; an outstanding season.”
